BUNBURY BOARDS WOODLAND CRAFT AWARDS

Every Bunbury Board is handcrafted and made from the finest Irish hardwood, sourced from sustainable Irish hardwood. Most uniquely, "Every board carries a code that tells the story of the tree from which the board was born, and what has been done to replace it" (William Bunbury). The product range is wide and well designed, allowing choice from paddles, handled boards, sushi blocks, bespoke boards, bark and smooth edges. The background is another story - of one man's vision to provide traceable products and to monitor and reward sustainable woodland management.  Bunbury Boards is the family's attempt to save their beautiful old estate, Lisnavagh, and breathe new life into the woodlands and buildings and return the estate to being the community employer it once was.  And it seems to be working! - Bunbury Boards are becoming a household name and  somehow blend qualities that are edgy, quirky, rustic, beautiful, tactile and immaculate.

Bunbury Boards - "A board with a story"

The ethos and products of Bunbury Boards dovetail perfectly with the Irish Forestry, Woodland & Bio Energy Show so we are very happy to announce that Bunbury Boards is sponsoring awards for woodland crafts at the show. Awards will be made with reference to the following criteria of the exhibitor's products, services, campaigns or ethos: environmental impact; sustainability;  conservation; community value; functionality; creativity, originality and aesthetics!

WINNERS of the WOODLAND CRAFTS AWARDS sponsored by Bunbury Boards:

1ST PLACE

BILL BLYTH of Saw Point Timber Art!

2ND PLACE

MARK WILSON, rustic blacksmith with Muintir na Coille Co-Operation Society Limited - iron and copper leaf sculptures - for which you only had to cycle to power the bellows!

HIGHLY COMMENDED

DAVID MAXWELL - a lovely range inc boards, bread boxes, tiny cupboards, egg boxes and owl boxes.

STUART BRAND - miner & exploration geologist and wood turner - beautiful, dark, strong and deeply textured works.
